In July 2021, MELAG desktop steam sterilizers were installed in several batches in the Zhuhai Stomatological Hospital, the main public dental hospital of the city in China. The renovation project of the hospitals outpatient department is one of the regions key hospital projects, with a total investment of about 45 million yuan and an area of ​​6,400 square meters. The overall scale of the department has been expanded by more than 50% and now features 63 dental chairs with an average of 500 patients daily.

The outpatient department was greatly optimized and upgraded to allow for more streamlined patient registration and treatment. It is stretched on seven floors, featuring departments for periodontology, endodontics, implantology, orthodontics as well as a children's dental center and a radiology department.

The hospital attaches great importance to the management of dental instrument infection control and serves as a regional model project that aims to fulfill the highest standards. With the help of Infection Control specialists of Guangzhou Yuanfu Trading Co, the reprocessing area was designed as the logistics center of the clinic. This so-called “Sterilization Supply Center” covers nearly 400 square meters and features a clear separation into a decontamination area, inspection and packaging area, and a sterile material storage area.

To allow quick access by all departments a unique location was chosen for the Sterilization Supply Center - in the very center of the clinic on the fourth floor.

Due to this layout, the room had to fulfill increased requirements, ensuring overall stability of the building. To reach a maximum of efficiency in this special location, the room was therefore equipped with 20 MELAG “Vacuklav” steam sterilizers, both Pro-Class Vacuklav 24B+ and the Premium-Class Vacuklav 44B+. This setup allows for the most flexible and fast sterilization workflow according to the individual needs of the departments and provide highest patient protection.

In 2016 the MIKROS Dental Center was  one of a few dental clinics in the whole city Chernivtsi, that was using the full optimized MELAG system solution for cleaning and sterilizing dental instruments. My system solution is ideally suited to instrument decontamination in Podiatry.
In my Podiatry practice I treat an average of about 10 to 15 patients a day, using specific instruments. The dermatological specialist practice was founded in 1984 by my mother Dr. Maria Wereta-Kubek. Since 2005 we have been running both practice locations as a team.
The practice headquarters is located in the city centre of Hofgeismar. There we also have our central decontamination room. The second location is in Bad Karlshafen-Helmarshausen. Besides the treatment of acute and chronic skin diseases, we also offer laser therapies, allergological diagnostics and outpatient surgery.

Our standards are high.
In order to meet our high standards, we have decided to use the integrated MELAG System Solution. After we had previously used disposable instruments, we switched to a concept with our own decontamination room and the MELAG System for cost and quality reasons. For cleaning and disinfection, we use MELAtherm 10. The instruments are packed in MELAstore or sealed with MELAseal 100+ before the sterilization in the steam sterilizer Euroklav. Despite the high patient volume - about 70 patients per day, our team was able after a very short time to integrate the new instrument decontamination process easily into the practice workflows.

Especially the fast cycle times play an important role in ensuring efficient workflows. Our washer-disinfector MELAtherm 10 has an active drying and a space-saving drawer for the process agents. The cleaning results are very good: even with a dry storage of the instruments of up to 5 hours, the MELAtherm completely fulfills our demands on the cleaning result. The system concept is also reflected in the documentation of the entire reprocessing. The washer-disinfector and the autoclave have a uniform documentation interface. Via CF-card we can comfortably read out our reprocessing protocols and keep them available if required.

The instrument decontamination process with MELAtherm and Euroklav ensures satisfaction for the whole team. Everything was excellently planned and implemented by our specialist dealer KS Medizintechnik. Service work can be covered for all instruments in the decontamination room by a technician of KS Medizintechnik. We were also able to contact MELAG and KS Medizintechnik with our questions at any time during the subsequent support. We are convinced that the investment in the MELAG System has paid off for our practice.

After years of being a partner in a joint practice, I decided to become self-employed in 2016. My new dental practice is part of a medical centre with general medicine, internists and physiotherapy. The focus of the practice is on aesthetic dentistry, endodontics and conservative dentistry. Manual reprocessing was out of question, the risk of puncture injuries and the additional time required seem too great – simply not up to date. My employees enjoy working with the MELAtherm very much. The MELAG washer disinfector is easy to use and the process times are fast. The clear division of the basic basket equipment is very practical. This enables optimal use of the washing chamber to clean and disinfect a large number of instruments. The automatically dosed process agent intake works very well, as does the exchange of the process agents integrated in the device. And especially important: the cleaning performance of MELAtherm is excellent.

For me, the main argument is a smooth process in all areas of our dental practice. The patient is always the focus of attention. Our history and philosophy
The history of the state budgetary institution “Dental Center of Grozny” begins at the end of the 20th century, when the dental center was built and commissioned in 1991 in Grozny. All the outstanding results of the development of the center were achieved under the leadership of the Minister of Health of the Chechen Republic Elkhan Abdullaevich Suleymanov and the Ministry of Health of the Chechen Republic. Doctors and other health care staff of the first years are still part of the team.  Many specialists are awarded with the highest qualification category; we also have 3 Ph.D. owners in our team. Today, the center is led by Said-Selim Zayndinovich Khubayev, MD, Ph.D., a respected dentist who loves and passionately pursues his work with heart and soul. The same attitude was passed on to the clinic staff.

We accept about 100 patients per day. Our dental clinic is divided in structural units for restorative and preventive treatment, departments such as surgery, orthodontics, and pediatric rooms, radiology and laser dentistry cabinet along with a 3D dental laboratory and casting facility.

Optimizing our workflow with the instrument decontamination process of the MELAG System
The activities of our sterilization department are divided into several rooms, which are separated into dirty, clean, and sterile zones. In the dirty zone, used medical devices are received and pre-sterilized in MELAtherm 10 washer disinfectors. Washer disinfectors are a modern generation of pre-sterilization cleaning machines to perform traceable automatic washing, disinfection, and drying of instruments.

Before sterilization, the devices are tightly wrapped with a sealing device and the packaged products are sent to the sterile area for sterilization. We use MELAG Vacuklav class B steam sterilizers. Only class B sterilizers are able to fully remove air from the sterilization chamber using fractionated pre-vacuum. This way you can reliably sterilize hollow body instruments and you can significantly increase the number of materials to be sterilized. Our MELAG steam sterilizers are equipped with a colour-touch display, which makes them more informative for the staff. After sterilization, medical devices are stored in the central sterilization room. The validity of the sterilization is determined by the type of packaging material.

It should be remembered that compliance with disease control regulations, including all sterilization requirements for medical devices, primarily concerns the prevention of medical-related infections and the preservation of those providing the care.
